Iran’s Foreign Ministry has condemned Israel’s “terrorist act in Lebanon,” which it said targeted “Lebanese citizens” by blowing up communication systems and called it a form of mass murder.
Nearly 3,000 Hezbollah fighters, members and personnel were wounded when their pager devices began exploding, inflicting serious injuries on hundreds on Tuesday. Israel has not commented on the unprecedented operation.
Spokesperson of Iran’s foreign ministry, Nasser Kanani, declared that the operation violated all moral and humanitarian principles, international law, especially humanitarian law, and warrants international criminal prosecution, trial, and punishment.
Amir Saeed Iravani, Iran's permanent representative to the United Nations, also stated in an emergency session of the UN General Assembly that the Islamic Republic of Iran expresses its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and the government of Lebanon, and strongly condemns this “subversive and terrorist act by the rogue Israeli regime.” He added that Israel must be held accountable for this aggression and heinous crime.
