Zarif: Military Confrontation Between Iran and Israel in Syria Is Possible

Mohammad Javad Zarif, the foreign minister of the Islamic Republic accused Israel of “seeking adventure” in Syria.

He said in an interview with a German newspaper that “Israel is seeking adventure in Syria and adventures are always dangerous.”

Zarif is referring to Israel’s air strikes on IRGC bases in Syria which Tel-Aviv has confirmed repeatedly. Netanyahu had warned that after the United States forces leave Syria, these attacks will intensify.

In response to the question about the possibility of military confrontation between Iran and Israel, Zarif said: “I don’t know, but it is not impossible.”

He repeated that Iranian forces were invited by the Assad regime to defeat the rebels, and criticized Israel for violating Syrian and Lebanese air space.

Last week in another interview Zarif had claimed that Israel is after war.
