Ukraine is pressuring Iran to deliver black boxes of downed Plane

Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Vadym Prystaiko said that Ukraine is pressing Iran to deliver the so-called black box recorders from the downed Ukrainian plane.

Prystaiko told the reporters: “The black box and cooperation with Tehran was the very difficult issue from the beginning and we will try to keep the message focused on recovering the data.”

The state-run Islamic Republic News Agency (ISNA) reported on January 19 that the government “currently has no plans” to deliver the black box from the Ukrainian plane.

Prystaiko said: “We have to plan in the longer run how to get the black boxes and how to get the investigation going; we are coordinating with five nations.”

He added: The issue is not “because some soldier was trigger-happy and overreacted,” we want to know the chain of command, who gave the order, to be brought to justice.

After the downing of the Ukrainian plane which killed all of its 176 passengers, the Islamic Republic officials denied the responsibility of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in targeting the plane for three days, but after it was revealed by Canada and the United States that the plane was targeted by missiles, the Islamic Republic armed forces released a statement confessing to its fault.

With over a month passed since the incident, the plane’s black box has not been reviewed by Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization and the Islamic Republic has not sent the box to Ukraine and France which have the capability of reviewing its content.
