Twitter: 10 Million Fake News Posts from Iran and Russia

Twitter claims that it has found at least 10 million fake news posts from 2009 to 2016 from groups connected to the Islamic Republic and the Russian government trying to impact the American presidential election.

According to CNBC, 3841 Twitter accounts have been identified and deleted, which 770 of those were in Iran.

Some Silicon Valley companies have claimed that one of the main reasons that Trump won the election in 2016, was the fake news posted by Russia and the Islamic Republic.

Recently, the Islamic Republic’s foreign minister, Javad Zarif, had asked Twitter to crack down on Iranian dissidents whom he refers to as mercenaries and bots.
