Shanahan: Iran’s threats against American troops continue

Patrick Shanahan, the acting Secretary of Defense for the United States says that Iran’s threats against American troops have not stopped.

On his way to Indonesia, Shanahan told the reporters that the situation in the region is still tense and has not changed in the past few days.

According to the acting secretary, the issue that the United States faces is how to change the current situation and how to fight against Iran’s proxy forces and the growing terrorism in the middle east.

He said the intelligence that the United States had about Iran’s potential attack were credible.

According to Shanahan, the swift reaction by the United States against Iran’s threats prevented the attack against U.S forces in Iraq. He also defended the deployment of USS Abraham Lincoln and B-52 bombers to the region in response to Iran’s threats against U.S forces and its allies.

John Bolton, the national security advisor to the White House who is meeting with the UAE officials in Abu-Dhabi, stated once again that Iran was most likely involved in the attack against the oil tankers in Fujairah port. Bolton stated: “It is clear that the mines used in the attack were almost certainly made by Iran.”
