Pompeo, The world is waking up to Iran's malign activities

In a speech at the United Against Nuclear Iran summit, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo called on all countries of the world to take actions against Iran’s activities.

He stated that it is time for Iran to put its people first and said this is what the Iranian people will demand that as well. He added that the United States will support the Iranian people in this path.

Highlights of Pompeo’s speech:

  • We did not rush to judgment in the attack on Saudi Arabia. We didn’t rush to act. We established the facts. Britain France and Germany released a statement this week blaming Iran for the attack. The rest of the world has now joined the reality that Iran is the aggressor and not the aggrieved as they pretend to be in New York.
  • When President Trump left the JCPOA nuclear deal, he did not only do it for the US national security but as he said, the deal had only made Iran’s bloodthirsty ambitions more brazen.
  • Iran has a long history of unprovoked aggression. From murdering and torturing its own people, to murdering Americans from Lebanon to Iraq, to harboring Al-Qaeda even today, with very little consequences.
  • After the nuclear deal was signed, Iran’s aggression only increased. They continued to support Hezbollah, Hamas, Houthis, and new Shia militias.
  • When President Trump came to office, Iran had not joined the community of nations as the previous administration had predicted. There was a refugee crisis in Syria thanks to Iran’s support of Assad, humanitarian crisis thanks to Iran’s support of Houthis, a fragile Iraq thanks to Iran’s support of Shia militias, and an Iranian client state, also known as Lebanon.
  • After we exited the JCPOA, we began to execute the maximum pressure campaign. We cut off the revenues the regime uses to fund death and destruction.
  • Iran flat-out lies and each one of us needs to call them on it. President Rouhani told Chris Wallace on Fox News that Iran defeats terrorism everywhere, and Israel supports ISIS. Rouhani is desperate to deceive because the world is awakening to the truth that Iran responds to strength, not to supplication. More and more nations are disengaging with Iran economically. No country must subsidize Iran’s bloodthirst.
  • Germany, Britain, France, Netherlands, Greece, and other countries have taken stronger steps against the Islamic Republic.
  • We will sanction any country that enters a deal with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard corps. We are sanctioning Chinese companies who knowingly import oil from Iran.
  • Our goal is very straightforward. We want the world to condemn Iran’s malign activities. All nations have a duty to act.
