Pompeo: Political and Economic Pressures on Iran Will Continue

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says that the political and economic pressure on Iran will continue.

Before his trip to Lebanon, the U.S secretary of state talked about continued efforts by the United States to put economic and political pressure on the Islamic Republic.

Mike Pompeo told Fox News: “We have identified and announced the (Iran supported) militia inside Iraq (as terrorist groups). We have identified the high-ranking commanders (of IRGC) and you can see that we have also identified the financial institutions and agents who operate in the field of illegal money transfer and support of Hamas and Hezbollah. The U.S government has made serious efforts to fight Iran’s expansionist activities in the region.”

Pompeo is going to meet with Michel Aoun, the president and Saad Hariri, the prime minister of Lebanon on Friday.

After leaving the JCPOA, the American officials have repeatedly stated that they plan on reducing Iran’s oil export to zero in order to change Tehran’s behavior in its support of terrorism and expansionism.
