Macron calls for new negotiations with Iran
In a meeting with President Trump, President Emmanuel Macron said: Preventing Iran‘s access to nuclear weapons is the common goal of the United States and France, and we need new international negotiations to achieve that.
President Trump once again emphasized his opposition to Iran’s development of nuclear weapons and called the regime of Iran “champion of terror”.
According to CBS, after his three-day trip to Britain, President Trump traveled to France to attend the anniversary of D-Day and talked with President Macron about Iran.
After the meeting, President Trump said: “I don’t want to see nuclear weapons. I don’t want to see them (Iran) having nuclear weapons, and they will not have nuclear weapons.”
He continued: “When I came to power, Iran was a real terrorist regime, they still are, but before they were the champions of terror and that was a bad thing.”
Donald Trump added that sanctions have been extremely effective and said: “If they want to negotiate, that is good, but the only thing they cannot have is nuclear weapons.”
He described Iran’s condition as “bad and broke” and stated that this situation can change quickly.
President Macron also emphasized the common goal of the U.S and France regarding Iran and said “preventing Iran from having nuclear weapons, reducing Iran’s missile activities, controlling Iran’s actions in the region, and establishing peace in the middle east” are the areas of cooperation between the two countries.
