King of Saudi Arabia urges the world to thwart Iran

In his opening remarks at the emergency summit of Arab leaders, King Salman of Saudi Arabia urged the international community to use all means to confront Iran.

King Salman accused Iran of interfering with the domestic affairs of other countries, harboring, supplying, and organizing global and regional terrorist entities, and threatening international waterways. He also mentioned the Islamic Republic’s missile program as a threat to the security of the region and the world. He also stated that his country is committed to peace.

Adil Al-Jubeir, the foreign minister of Saudi Arabia told BBC: “Saudi Arabia does not want war with Iran, but will not tolerate hostile Iranian activity in the Middle East.”

Saudi Arabia also accuses Iran of being involved in the attacks against the oil tankers in Fujairah and the attacks on Saudi Arabia’s oil facilities.

The Arab League is not united over their approach to Iran; for example, Oman has relations with both Saudi Arabia and Iran and tries to act as a mediator. On the other hand, Qatar is close to Iran and has been boycotted by Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies. The prime minister of Qatar was also present at the summit in Mecca.

On Friday the Organization of Islamic Cooperation will also hold its summit in Mecca.
