Dozens killed and thousands injured in Beirut blast

According to Lebanon’s Minister of Interior, the explosion occurred in a reservoir of explosive material that was confiscated years later. According to the Lebanese media, the second/main explosion was caused by 2700 tons of ammonium nitrates.

Saad Hariri, the former prime minister of Lebanon said the Beirut port, where 70 percent of Lebanon’s imports and exports go through, was targeted by the explosion.

Several countries including the U.S, France, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and others have offered to help Lebanon in any way possible.
