Brian Hook: U.S is prepared to negotiate with Iran to remove sanctions

Brian Hook, special representative for Iran and the head of Iran Action Group says that President Trump is ready to negotiate with Tehran on an agreement that would remove the sanctions against Iran.

As he visits Oman, Hook told the reporters that Iran must end its nuclear and missile program and its support of proxy groups in the region.

He said the president of the United States is very interested in negotiation with the Islamic Republic, but people must ask themselves why is it that Iran keeps rejecting diplomacy.

The special representative for Iran accused Tehran of “violent reaction to diplomatic pressure” and said Iran can return to the negotiation table or witness its economic collapse.

Hook added: If Iran reaches an agreement with the United States, Washington is ready to resume its diplomatic relation with Iran and remove the sanctions. But an agreement must be reached.”

The head of Iran Action Group who has been visiting several countries in the region, previously said in Kuwait that Washington asks all the countries to convince Iran to deescalate the situation.

Hook told the foreign minister of Kuwait on Sunday that the United States has no interest in a military conflict with Iran.

He once again criticized the Islamic Republic’s behavior in the region and asked it to be a normal country and not a revolutionary regime.
