Faranak Mousavi, chairman of the Women and Family Institute in Khuzestan Province reported of two cases of child brides under the age of ten last year.

She told ISNA: “Sometimes the court decides that the 10-year-old girl has reached maturity, and it is for the court to decide whether a child has reached the age of marriage or not, but what matters is that child marriage should not happen if it is due to financial or cultural poverty.”
