"If sanctions are lifted"

Rouhani: We are ready to negotiate and resolve misunderstandings

The president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hassan Rouhani, announced that his country is ready to “negotiate and resolve misunderstandings”, however, he called on the United States to: “End your aggression and pressure and sanction, and do not encourage your friends to cut ties with Iran.”

He had previously said that if the United States lifts sanctions, Tehran is willing to negotiate with Washington.

After revealing the new Bavar-373 missile defense system on Thursday, Rouhani claimed that Iran provides security in the Strait of Hormuz, the Persian Gulf, and the whole region.

“If you (Washington) return from the wrong path and stop your aggression, Iran is ready to provide security for the whole region,” Rouhani announced.

Regarding the United States’ position in the world, Rouhani stated: “I do not remember a politically and legally weaker and more Isolated America in history.”

Rouhani once again accused the United States of causing the January 2018 mass uprising across Iran “through their operatives”.

The uprising in over 60 cities in Iran started as a protest to economic conditions but soon turned into strong anti-regime sentiments.

Rouhani continued: “They (Americans) thought they would start an uprising that would last several months, but the wisdom and competence of our officials and efforts by the security forces, police, and military, this movement was wrapped up in five days.”

According to Amnesty International, thousands were arrested after the protests, with many receiving heavy prison sentences.

Rouhani once again accused the United States of “economic terrorism” against Iran.

According to Iran’s center for statistics, the rate of inflation in the 12 months before July has reached 40.4 percent, and point by point inflation has reached 48 percent in July.

However, President Rouhani claimed that “today all domestic indicators show that we are at a better condition than we were last year and we have more economic stability in the market.”
