Protests in Front of Tehran University

Videos released on Monday, December 30th show sporadic protests in front of Tehran University and around Inqilab square.

In response, the commander of police forces said that all gatherings require a permit from the state ministry.

The videos show the protesters chanting: “Don’t be afraid, we’re all together,” and “incompetent officials, must resign, must resign”.

These protests come after a few days of protest by the students of the University of Science and Technology. The students say that no official has accepted responsibility for the bus accident that took the lives of ten students.

The protests are also on the anniversary of last year’s protests in January, when people in many cities and towns across Iran protested against the regime.

In those protests, people chanted slogans that showed their distrust of the entire political system and both the conservatives and the reformists.

Hundreds were arrested and over 20 were killed by the regime as a response to the protests.

The reformists also supported the crackdown and suppression of the protests.
