Motahari: The Majority of People Will Vote for Mandatory Hijab
Ali Motahari, the deputy speaker of the Islamic Republic parliament, said that if there was a referendum on mandatory hijab, the majority of people will vote for it.
He continued: “Based on my understanding of the society, if today we had a referendum on mandatory hijab, the society will vote for hijab.”
According to Motahari, even the improper hijab wearers will vote for hijab “because they understand the effects of improper hijab on the society.”
He also claimed that currently there is no mandate for hijab in Iran.
Recently, there was a new wave of protests by Iranian women against the mandatory Hijab, starting with Vida Movahed.
She became known as “the girl of Inqilab street” by tying her hijab on a stick and standing on a platform in Inqilab street.
After her, many other women protested in the same manner across the country and published their photos in social media.
