Iran begins the fourth step in scaling down compliance with nuclear deal

President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hassan Rouhani, announced that the fourth step in scaling down compliance with the nuclear deal (JCPOA) will begin tomorrow, saying: “We will inject gas in centrifuges installed in Fordo nuclear facility.”

The president of the Islamic Republic explained: “We have 1044 centrifuges in Fordo, but under the JCPOA, it was agreed that they would work without gas being injected in them.”

“We inform the 4+1 and friendly countries that the fourth step will be under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and just like the third step, it is reversible. If all the sanctions are lifted and we can sell our oil and use our banking revenue, we will return to the initial conditions,” Rouhani declared.

Rouhani emphasized that Iran believes in backroom negotiations and added: “We did not reach an agreement, so we are taking this step. If during the next two months we reach an agreement, these steps are reversible.”

In the previous three steps, the Islamic Republic first breached the uranium enrichment amount of 300 kg, and then the enrichment level of 3.67.
