Explosion at gas condensate plant in Iran

The official Islamic Republic News Agency reported yet another explosion in the current series of incidents in Iranian gas and nuclear plants, this time at a gas condensate plant in the Kavian Fariman industrial zone in the Razavi Khorasan Province.

According to a fire department official in Fariman, “fire at one of the gas tanks at the company’s plant lead to an explosion which caused heavy damage to this plant and the neighboring plant, but did not cause any casualties and the cause of the explosion is under investigation."

The explosion is the most recent in a series of explosions and fires at Iranian infrastructure, industry, and nuclear sites throughout the country. Iranian officials have referred to most of these events as incidents or accidents, and offered natural causes for them, despite many reports that claim sabotage or even foreign attack.
