Exclusive: Zeinab Jalalian in bad condition in prison

In an interview with Iran International, sister of political prisoner Zeinab Jalalian said she is being held in solitary confinement and she is in bad health.

Deniz Jalalian told Iran International on Friday that her sister called her yesterday and said she is being held in solitary confinement in Kerman prison.

According to Deniz Jalalian, two guards were standing by her sister and would not allow her to speak Kurdish or answer questions or talk about certain things.

Zeinab has told her family that she has ended her hunger strike. Her sister says Zeinab is not in good health and had difficulty breathing.

Deniz said her sister had contracted coronavirus in Qarchak prison but was not treated by a doctor.

Zeinab Jalalian was arrested in 2008 in Kermanshah on charges of acts against national security and war against God by joining the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK). She was initially sentenced to death but later the sentence was reduced to life in prison.

Jalalian has suffered several illnesses in prison.
