COVID19 death toll in Iran reaches 2259; Official report says 853

The spokesman for the Islamic Republic’s Ministry of Health, Kianoush Jahanpour, announced that the number of coronavirus victims in Iran has reached 853, however, Iran International’s reliable medical sources in Iran report the death toll at 2259.

In his daily briefing, Jahanpour reported that in the past 24 129 more patients have died of the disease.

“1053 more confirmed cases have been added to the number of COVID19 patients and currently we have 14991 confirmed patients in the country,” he continued. “4996 patients have also been cured.

According to his report, Tehran province has the most number of new cases with 200, then Isfahan province with 118, and Mazandaran province with 96.

Jahanpour emphasized that Mazandaran and Isfahan are currently hotbeds of coronavirus and people should not travel to those provinces.

Meanwhile, many provincial officials and members of parliament have accused the Ministry of Health of providing false stats and demanded the truth from the government.

In the most recent official survey in Iran, 89.4 percent of the people approve of quarantining the cities that have the most cases in the epidemic, but President Rouhani announced on Sunday: “There is no such thing as quarantine.”
