61 More Arrested on the Thirteenth day of Iranian Truckers’ Strike

On the thirteenth day of the countrywide truckers’ strike, 61 more were arrested, which brings the number of individuals arrested in relation to the strike up to 238. The strike has been reported to have reached at least 25 provinces in the country, while the truckers claim it is now ongoing in all the 31 provinces.

Truckers have demanded higher wages and better transportation fees due to the increase in insurance premiums, highway tolls, commissions, and high costs of spare parts and repairs.

They also hope to receive more pension and hard labor pay, cut out the middlemen from the transportation service industry, and to put an end to the arbitrary police harassment and demands of bribe.
